Kirby is a mixed use multi-family urban redevelopment project located in Nashville's burgeoning Wedgewood Houston neighborhood. Eclectic in character and brimming with energy, "WeHo" is a community of artistic and industrial entrepreneurship that contributes much to Nashville's economic and creative vitality.
The project's site on Martin Street was the long time home of the Kirby Welding Company, a respected local steel fabricator. The project pays homage to its former use through its architectural expression, material grit and strategically salvaged industrial elements. The site's old steel overhead crane is a relic utilized as a monumental sculptural statement which frames the project's entry sequence and its connection to the neighborhood's pedestrian plaza.
Kirby consists of 104 dwelling units and 9,000 square feet of restaurant, retail, office and creative maker space. The top floor's two story loft units cap the project as they gaze towards Nashville's skyline.
