Studio
DAAD's studio consists of Project Architect James Bagwell, Intern Architect Brad Northcut and Interior Designer Kim Powell Martin. This team has been carefully assembled to provide our clients a mix of backgrounds to ensure the highest level of service and quality.
Kim Martin has been with DAAD since 2003. She started as an intern while completing her interior design degree. Since this is a second career for Kim (she spent eleven years in couture retail management) her management and interpersonal skills play a vital role inside the office, just as her design skills do for our clients. She was an integral part of the team which won a Tennessee AIA Award for FCG Infrastructures.
Like Nick Dryden, Brad interned with a builder during college – although Brad's experience was in Jackson, Wyoming. Brad has also worked on large scale commercial and civic projects like the Vanderbilt University Student Life Center, West End Community Church, and Chattanooga's Riverfront Gateway Development.
In addition to Nick and John, most clients will get to know Project Architect James Bagwell. Because of his extensive background in large civic and commercial projects, James' organizational skills and detail orientation are a great asset to the DAAD team. He has worked on projects such as the Williamson County Library, The Renaissance Center in Dickson, Tennessee, and Kennedy Hall at Belmont University.
Because the DAAD vision is to be the leading boutique design firm in the Southeast, we don’t intend to grow so large that the partners manage people more than create good design. However, in order to ensure that our design expertise is available for any size project, we will ally ourselves with outside resources when necessary. It is more important that we be good than big!
