Morgan Park Place
Nashville, Tennessee
Local neighborhood developers Lawrence Brothers and New Urban Construction commissioned DA|AD to create the first EarthCraft-certified development in Tennessee. As a nod to their unique vision for the site, the project was awarded through a design competition. The outcome is that this eco-friendly development is built with a commitment to sustainable products, and is also “an urban village” where residents can live, work, and play.
The two acre site has historical significance as Morgan Park was Nashville’s first botanical garden and will serve as a greenway connecting Germantown to the Cumberland River. The project scope encompasses seventy total residential and commercial spaces, with master planning focused on creating a new neighborhood in an historic area.
The buildings at the intersection of 4th Avenue North and Van Buren Street are designed to create a “gateway” between Salemtown (North) and Germantown (South). The various types of units include – townhouses, upstairs flats in mixed use buildings, single family houses, and carriage houses facing the park. A variety of exterior surfaces have been used to ensure a timeless modern landscape. Interior sustainable materials include bamboo flooring, Energy Star rated appliances, on-demand water heaters, recycled rubber pavers (rooftop deck), and highly efficient heating and cooling equipment.
