Sweet 16th Bakery

Nashville, Tennessee (Historic Lockeland Springs Neighborhood)

A wonderful bakery has always been a cornerstone of a great neighborhood, and running such a bakery has been a lifelong dream of owners Dan and Ellen Einstein. When they purchased this corner building in East Nashville, they turn to DAAD to help make their dream come true.

The renovation on this early 1900’s was significant, but contained to the existing foundation. Sweet 16th Bakery was the first commercial infill construction to be built under the 5 Points Redevelopment District Design guidelines and served as the beginning of a revival of what had been a bleak commercial district. The design is a contemporary interpretation of a French patisserie. The result is an award-winning space which includes a full pastry kitchen, retail display space, and a small seating area.
